Buying Guide
When selecting a car-friendly fridge, consider these factors to ensure the most suitable option for your needs:
- Power flexibility: Look for models offering AC, 12V DC car adapters and, if possible, USB or USB-C options for on-the-go charging. This ensures operation in both homes and vehicles.
- Capacity and layout: Choose a size that fits your typical items. Dual-zone fridges are helpful if you want one side for cooling drinks and the other for skincare or snacks.
- Cooling vs warming: Some units offer pure cooling, others heat as well. For skincare or cosmetics, warming capabilities can be handy, but ensure the device can effectively cool to your needed temperature.
- Cooling technology: Thermoelectric coolers are quiet and energy-efficient for small capacities but may require ambient cooling. Compressor-based fridges chill more quickly and handle hotter climates, but are heavier and louder.
- Portability: Look for compact dimensions, lightweight materials, internal shelves, and a carry handle for easy transport in cars and travel.
- Durability and power efficiency: A brushless motor reduces noise and wear in long-term use. Longer warranty or robust build quality can be beneficial for frequent travellers.
- Maintenance and cleaning: Removable shelves and accessible interiors ease daily use and keep cosmetics, drinks and snacks hygienic.
- Warranty and support: Check the manufacturer warranty and customer support availability in the UK to ensure reliable post-purchase service.
